 A
mid table start to the decade marked the end of Arthur Chadwick's
reign. New boss George Kay took Saints top, but only briefly
and Saints finished an injury ravaged 31/32 14th.
Core players were sold to keep the club going to the displeasure
of the supporters/ Keeping, Arnold, Light and Drake all went
and Saints slumped to mid table mediocrity, if they were lucky.
To sum up the first half of the decade, pressure from the
lake, on which the Dell pitch was build on, created a deep
hole in the Milton goalmouth. Kay and his assistant Shelley
left for Liverpool.A major board reshuffle (notably brining
in Mr. Corbett) brought a more positive approach, but new
manager George Goss wouldn't last the season in which Saints
finished fourth bottom.Tom Parker was the new manager and
he rebuilt the team (bringing in the likes of Ted Bates) with
the backing of the new board. Unfortunately, the team could
only finish fifth bottom before war broke out, ending league
football
