Saints started the decade as founder members of Division
3. Saints finished second and the formation of the regional
divisions meant that the following year would be spent in
Division 3 (South). Saints finished top and moved into the
second division.
After a symmetric first season, Saints narrowly missed out
on promotion. Jimmy McIntyre's resignation in December 1924
saw Saints slowly slide down the table despite two cup semi
finals in 24/25 and 26/27
Saints players were constantly being sold although the club
did buy the Dell in 1926, from the land owner George Thomas,
for £25,000.
Manager, Arthur Chadwick, took the team to 4th in 28/29 but
the team had yet to really settle.
